Mierové Square – Sights (Senec)

Highlights

The main square in the city centre with a fountain in front of the Municipal Office. The pedestrian zone that leads to the south side of the Sunny Lakes starts here. The main square is also the location of the Municipal Museum and the Municipal Cultural Centre. It is close to the bus station and the Roman Catholic Church.

The Immaculata Statue

A statue of the Immaculata (Virgin Mary) was built in 1747 at the square at the crossroads. In 1714, a plague broke out in the town, claiming the lives of dozens of inhabitants of the town and nearby areas. After the end of the plague epidemic, the Bornemis family had the plague column – The Immaculata statue – built as a sign of gratitude.
